Finding your dream job in today’s competitive job arena and up-and-down economy is no easy business. One thing is certain if you’re a career seeker, the best opportunities for your dream job are on the Internet.

Is there such a thing as a dream job? Yes, All you need to do is rearch, ultilize, keep up to date with current training and trends the job entails to grasp.

Whether you’re looking at a particular company’s job listings posted directly on their website or using an all-in-one job resource service, you’re on the right track. Here are some pointers to get you on your way to finding and landing that dream job soon!

- Carefully consider your career goals. The career you choose and your dream job should match your personality, talents, skills, and resources.

- If possible, don’t limit yourself to one location. The more flexible you are as to where you will go to work, the more marketable you are. Many opportunities are in other neighborhoods, cities, states or countries.

- Keep in mind that in this competitive job market, finding a dream job may take a little longer than it did the last time you were in the job market. It’s common for numerous candidates to apply for a single job. Don’t stress it if you keep trying and don’t give up, then your positive attitude will pay off.

- Update your resume. These days, a professionally written and formatted resume that presents you in your best possible light is a basic prerequisite to finding a job. The biggest mistake job seekers make is being too exhaustive and including everything about themselves. Don’t forget that the purpose of a resume isn’t to get a job right then and there it’s to get a call from a prospective employer! Make sure you stand out by being concise, using keyword phrasing that’s easy to read, and keeping your resume error-free.

- Get out there and start hunting! Try an all-in-one job search site, you can post your resume and portfolio for prospective employers to find, as well as search for work opportunities among international job listings. There’s also a whole section devoted to career resources, including links to leads for increasing your skills and credentials through educational opportunities, finding your personality type, and lots more. My favorites are the RSS feeds and job alerts to my email box.

One the best ways to submit a resume is on Sunday evening so that when the employer arrives into the work place it is the first fresh fax piece to review. I have received 20 interviews with this technique.

Now it is your turn.

Remember you deserve the job of your dreams. Apply well and apply often, and good luck!

Sometimes a traditional part-time job is not possible due to your schedule. This is when looking into becoming a freelancer becomes a real option. We’ll look at several resources to make this possible in a moment.

First, it’s important to understand freelancing is not for everyone. You should be self motivated and disciplined. There will be no ‘boss’ or ’supervisor’ to keep you on task. Some freelance positions are for a very limited amount of time. You’ll need to be on the lookout for more than one opportunity to stay busy.

There are many freelancers making a nice living doing what they love to do and having the freedom they desire. But it likely didn’t happen overnight. As with most things in life, it doesn’t come easy. There are a multitude of ebooks and websites that will try to convince you otherwise. Don’t fall for their promises of freelance riches without any hard work. You will likely need to spend some money promoting your services and obtaining leads to those needing freelance services. You should not have to anything to learn how to become a freelancer.

Becoming a freelancer is not hard. But it does require some talent. Most freelance positions revolve around creation of something. Writing an article, editing a resume, coding a website. But there are options for outside sales representatives, translators, data entry and even financial management jobs.

Below is a list of a few resources to seek freelance employment with a brief description of each:

GoFreelance – One of the few freelance sites that offer a flat rate membership fee for freelancers. Many freelance sites provide free membership but charge a percentage of the fee you earn from each job you complete.

eLance – One of the most recognized websites for freelance work. The site offers a wide variety of employment options to a freelancer. Most of the jobs tend to be on the creative side, but there are many available for non-creative freelancers.

iFreelance – Smaller site than eLance, but provides more open communications between the freelancer and the employer. Many small jobs that may help get started in freelancing.

Guru.com – An established freelance site that offers a broad range of freelance jobs. There are opportunities to establish long term freelancing partnerships.

As you can see there are a myriad of options to find part-time work outside the conventional part time jobs. Once you start freelancing, you may even decide it to be a better fit for you than your current full time job.

While the mega job sites boast the amount of jobs they have, due to the costs employers face when posting on them, they do not offer good local coverage. If you are looking to find a job in another state this sites are likely to be a great resource. But most of us want to find work within a reasonable commute of where we are right now.

While sites like beyond do well in the local job market, the leader in free classified ads is really making noise in this niche. CraigsList.com started out in the San Francisco Bay area as a free local classified ads site and has grown to be an international phenomenon. Employers are starting to take notice of the opportunity to post help wanted ads target down to specific cities and even regions of a city. Since many of the cities Craigslist serves are free to post, you’ll find many small companies and ‘mom & pop stores’ with limited budgets posting job ads. These can be your best opportunity to find a rewarding position close to home.

On the downside of CraigsList, you’ll also find many scams, so tread carefully. The site does it’s best to eliminate blatant scams, but some may still sneak through. Craigslist also doesn’t have a way for employers to find you easily. this is why we still recommend posting your resume in several of the large and niche websites such as Job.com, Hot Resumes and Beyond.
